The department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is one of the main departments of the hospital. The annual turnover is around 2000 deliveries, 25oo gynecological operations and 14000 to 15000 outpatients. The department provides round the clock maternity services with CTG and Epidural facility for painless labour and emergency surgery.
In obstetrics it has five general and three private beds for first stage labour and two well equipped delivery rooms with three beds and neonatal resuscitation unit. It has an eclampsia room and two intensive care rooms. There are forty general beds and access to an equal number of private beds.
All kinds of gynaecology, oncology, infertility and laparoscopic surgery are carried out in three well-equipped operation theaters. The theaters have lates anesthetic machines, ventilators, data scopes, pulse oximeters, high quality lights, tables and surgical instruments for laparoscopic and full range of gynae pelvic and plastic surgery.
Our staff includes 2 regular consultants, 1 consultants, 2 registrars and 14 medical officers. Brig. (R) Dr. Mona Zafar TI(M) is the head of the department who supervises the teaching programme along with other consultants.
The college of physicians and Surgeons has recognized the department for postgraduate teaching. A well-structured teaching programme includes daily bedside teaching rounds, biweekly departmental meetings, discussions, tutorials, journal club, lectures and fortnightly CPC.
